Kate is a freelance science writer who writes about biology, nature, and the environment.
She’s been an animal lover and nature geek since day one. In 2012, Kate earned a dual Ph.D. in Zoology and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior after spending seven years studying wild spotted hyenas in Kenya. She’s an expert on the social behavior and conservation of large mammals.
Kate currently lives in Southern Nevada and loves exploring the West, both on foot and on horseback. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, Conservation Magazine, High Country News, Ars Technica, and other publications.
