LISA DENSMORE BALLARD
Lisa has spent most of her life outdoors. A three-time Emmy winning television host and producer for her work on Wildlife Journal on PBS, she is also an award-winning writer and photographer. The Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) has recognized Lisa numerous times with its prestigious Excellence in Craft Awards for her words, images and TV work. Currently serving as first vice president, she will be President of OWAA in 2015-16. She contributes regularly to a number of regional and national magazines on hunting and conservation topics, including Successful Hunter, Colorado Outdoors and Wyoming Wildlife.
Lisa has been hunting for 30 years. Originally an upland bird hunter and waterfowler, she picked up a rifle over a decade ago as part of her work on Wildlife Journal to help educate others about skills such as tracking and tree stand safety and to encourage participation. Today, she mainly hunts western big game, especially whitetails, mule deer, pronghorn and elk, with her husband, fellow writer-photographer and big game mentor Jack Ballard.
Lisa grew up in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. A graduate of Dartmouth College, she now lives in Red Lodge, Montana with her husband Jack and English setter Percy. She has one son and three step-kids, all who love to hunt especially during the family's traditional elk camp each fall. www.LisaDensmore.com
