The following is a great opportunity for wild sheep and wildlife in Arizona. The Wild Sheep Foundation has taken up the commitment of raffling off the 2025-26 Arizona Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep tag for the Arizona Game & Fish Department. And the big part... 100% of the proceeds are going back to the Arizona Game & Fish Department Habitat Partnership Committee for their continued stewardship of the state’s wild sheep resources.
Raising money for the resource is a win win for wildlife!
One really unique part of this raffle is that, besides being the chance to win a highly coveted sheep tag via an affordable raffle, only Arizona desert bighorn tags have been available in the past. This is the first Rocky bighorn tag issued this way.
EVERY DOLLAR raised from this tag will be directed to the Arizona Game & Fish Department Habitat Partnership Committee for their continued stewardship of the state’s wild sheep resources.
The Wild Sheep Economy – Your chance to win and give back
For a high demand, limited opportunity resource like wild sheep, successful conservation programs require we put in more than we will ever take. In this regard, license sales alone will never be enough unless the cost per tag is in the tens of thousands of dollars per opportunity. This is why, in addition to draw tags, wildlife agencies also issue special auction and raffle tags. Without these added funds, there would simply be less sheep on the mountain.
While buying chances in hopes of winning is personal, you are contributing to something far bigger, which is the hallmark of the sportsmen-led conservation movement. The ultimate winner here will be Arizona’s wild sheep.
SOMEONE WILL WIN one of the mostly highly coveted tags in big game hunting.
Hunting wild sheep in Arizona today
In Arizona, funds raised from auction and raffle tags for bighorn sheep have helped increase hunting opportunities from 44 available tags in 1984 to 156 tags in 2024.
Beginning in 2025 there are only two ways to hunt sheep in Arizona; the state draw in the spring (156 tags offered in 2024) or win one of three raffle tags (Mexicana Desert Bighorn, Nelsoni Desert bighorn and Rocky Mountain Bighorn). The average draw odds in 2024 were .03%.
