Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has partnered with landowners on the Collins Mountain Ranch and Miller Creek Ranch in northwest Colorado for exciting private land big game opportunities. Hunters can apply for a chance to harvest elk and mule deer on one of these ranches through Friday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. While anyone can apply for this opportunity, CPW plans to give preference to youth and military veterans.
“We worked together with the landowners to protect and conserve critical habitat on these ranches, but at the same time allowing sportsmen’s access to these areas,” said District Wildlife Manager Bailey Franklin in a press release. “It’s a fantastic opportunity and we encourage eligible hunters to apply.”
Both ranches are home to large populations of mule deer and elk and offer hunters a variety of terrain to spot and stalk their animal. According to CPW, habitat ranges from mountain shrublands to sagebrush and pinyon-juniper woodland.
