Over the next few months, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will move forward with a prescribed burn that will improve bighorn sheep habitat within the state. Officials will target Trail Lake Meadow in the Torrey Valley, which is in the Whiskey Basin Wildlife Habitat Management Area south of Dubois, Wyoming, according to the agency.

Public travel will be limited during the ignition activities and Trail Lake Road will likely be closed for about three hours.

The prescribed burn is part of the state’s Whiskey Mountain Bighorn Sheep Plan, which focuses on improving bighorn sheep habitat over the next several years. According to the agency, the fire will occur before “farming activities,” which will improve “supplemental winter forage for bighorn sheep.”
