Finding out how many preference points you have built up in California can be a lengthy process, especially when compared to other states. Below is a step-by-step walkthrough to see how many hunting preference points you have in California.
If you want to skip a few steps, click on the button below to be taken directly to California's licensing login page. Then, proceed to step 3.
For starters, head over to California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s homepage. In the upper right portion of the screen, click on “Login.”
On this screen, you will see “Log into CDFW Systems,” and below that will be “License Sales and Service.” You’ll want to click that link.
Now, you are at the CDFW login page. Click on “Customer Login/Register.”
Now, you'll need to fill out the "Customer Search Criteria." So enter your date of birth and last name, then click “Next.”
You will now need to select an official document identification type to complete the search for your account. Once you have completed this step, click “Next.” In my opinion, the easiest method here is to use your state-issued driver's license.
Enter your account password and click "Submit."
Once at your customer account profile page, click on “View My Draw Applications / Preference Points.”
Now click on the “Preference Points” tab to see your California preference point totals.
One last step I like to take is to jump into GOHUNT’s Point Tracker Tool and update my preference point totals for California. This way, I know everything is in sync between the state's website and my Insider account. Point Tracker will then seamlessly transfer your point totals into Filtering and Draw Odds when you're researching hunts on both the web version of Insider and our mobile app.
