If you applied for the 2020 Montana Alternate List and checked your results mid-July, your number on that list has now changed. To some, this might be a great thing, for others, not so much. Montana had an error in their draw system for randomizing the alternate list and the original results were just published in the order they were received. Montana has now corrected this.
The following is an urgent press release from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
The Alternate’s List has been updated to correct a technical error with the initial posting of the list. The error was that the original list displayed the order that customers signed up instead of the randomized ordered list that was intended and required. The error occurred as a result of a brittle and antiquated licensing system. A new licensing system is underway and is slated to be operational for the 2022 license year. FWP apologizes for the confusion this has caused.
