The Utah DWR has implemented a new staggered system for tag sales in 2021, the first round is set to kick off July 8, 2021 at 8 a.m. MST. You can buy licenses online here.

Utah’s general elk licenses are sold in limited numbers, although over the counter, so anyone interested in hunting under one of these tags is advised to buy the tag sooner than later.

Leftover big game permits and general season deer

Along with the sale of general tags, hunters will also have the opportunity to purchase leftover permits from the big game drawing. These licenses are sold on a first come first served basis. Hunters must first possess a valid hunting license or combination license prior to purchasing a leftover license. These can be purchased online or at any DWR Office.

NOTE: You will lose your general-season buck deer preference points if you purchase one of the permits listed below. (This does not apply to the Youth archery permits.)
