Another mule deer has been poached and left to waste – and Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) officials are asking for help in solving the case. The 4x4 buck was found in Game Management Unit 13B on the Arizona Strip in an area known as Low Mountain, 20 miles south of St. George, UT.

According to the Grand Canyon News, the buck was killed around July 22-25 near BLM Rd. 1022.

“Poaching is a serious crime that impacts every sportsman and woman within the state of Arizona,” says Luke Thompson, who serves as supervisor of AZGFD Region 2 Field. “Poaching robs all Arizonans of their valuable wildlife resources. This is not the act of a hunter. It's a crime that can likely be solved with one tip that can help us bring those responsible to justice.”

Investigators were already looking into a different poaching case that occurred in May and involved a mule deer doe that happened four miles from this one. AZGFD is considering the possibility that both cases are related, but without much to go on, they’re asking for the public’s help.

If you have any information about either case, please contact AZGFD’s Operation Game Thief Hotline at 800-352-0700 or online. Please make sure to reference case number 16-002521. If your tip helps catch the culprit, you may receive a reward up to $1,000.
