Big game hunters came together to show support for Wyoming’s second annual Super Tag raffle. The raffle, which provides hunters with additional opportunities to draw coveted hunting licenses through the purchase of raffle tickets, raised $641,950 that will be used for wildlife management efforts across the state.

A total of 50,485 raffle tickets were sold this year and separate raffles were held for each big game species: bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goat, elk, wild bison, deer, antelope, black bear and mountain lion. In addition to these raffles, there was an additional Super Tag Trifecta that allowed one winner to choose any three licenses out of those offered, according to KTVQ.com.

“We are seeing increased interest from big game hunters here in Wyoming and from elsewhere. That shows with the number of Super Tag tickets purchased and in our overall applications. This is encouraging, we know we have more to do to continue providing some of the best hunting experiences in the world and this additional revenue helps. Our thanks to Governor Mead and the Legislature,” says Game and Fish Director Scott Talbott.

Super Tag winners are able to waive the five-year waiting period that normally applies to hunters interested in re-applying for bighorn sheep and moose licenses as well as once-in-a-lifetime bison and mountain goat licenses. Winners are also able to hunt any open area for the species they select.
