Mostly open, flat, high-desert grasslands with mixed public and private land and good numbers of antelope but very few elk and mule deer.

The only pronghorn season here is an early to mid-September muzzleloader hunt. Deer and elk numbers are low with little deer habitat and the state offers several depredation seasons. The antelope hunt is during the rut.

Generally flat with some hills and draws.

Primarily sagebrush and desert grasslands with pinyon/juniper covering 20% of the land.

Many hunters camp along public dirt roads. Lodging is available in Springerville, St. Johns and Concho. Lyman Lake State Park has a campground.

Checkerboard-style mix of state trust land, BLM and private property, which results in many landlocked parcels of public ground, making them inaccessible to hunters who do not have permission to cross private land.
