East of Campo to the Kansas state line is Comanche National Grassland and Cimarron River. Small numbers of mule deer, elk and antelope can be found here. A large population of whitetails also live in this unit. Most private ranches are leased.
Trophy class whitetails spend a lot of time in open prairie. There are a few antelope bucks and a small resident herd of elk in this unit.
