Located in northcentral Montana, east of the Rocky Mountain front and running from Great Falls north to Highway 2, this is one of Montana's largest antelope units. Nearly all the ground is farmed with wheat and other dry ground crops common to Montana. There is very little topography other than some river breaks country found along the major water routes.

This unit is one of the harder to draw hunting districts in Montana, but most years it also produces some of the better bucks in the state. A die-off did reduce populations recently, but did not crush the area.

This is dry land farming country. Some river breaks are available, but the majority is in crop production including much of the state ground which is under lease. Major topography is nonexistent.

Public ground is minimal, though a very large tract of publicly accessible private land is available through Montana's Block Management Program in the northern portion of the unit. With this being the major block of publically accessible ground, pressure here is significant. Very little BLM and no Forest Service ground exists within this unit. State land is scattered throughout, but most are small parcels and identifying them can be difficult as most are leased or are in crop production. Additional Block Management areas are available but may change from year to year. Numerous county roads checkerboard nearly all of the unit. The Brinkman Game Preserve is in this unit and does not allow antelope hunting.

Wheat and barley are the main vegetation types found in this area. On CRP or unleased state ground native and invasive grasses dominate. Some sagebrush is present but in very light coverage and finding a tree other than ornamentals and wind breaks around ranch houses is the highlight of the day if goats aren't active.

Conrad, Shelby, Fort Benton, Chester and Great Falls all offer lodging and amenities. Camping is available on state ground in some instances, though the recreation areas around Tiber Reservoir and the Marias River offer camping and amenities for a nominal fee or in many cases free.
