This is a popular district mainly for elk, but also will produce decent deer. Sitting just south of the Bob Marshall Wilderness complex the ground is rather mountainous, but with decent access is a popular choice for a fair number of Montana hunters.

While this district does have decent deer and elk populations, many of the larger bucks and bulls aren't easily accessible unless late season weather pushes them out of the wilderness from the north.

This district for the most part is mountainous and mainly timbered. Some private farm ground is present down along highway 200, but it is minimal. The elevation in this district is rather high with nearly all of it sitting over 5,000 feet and some of the higher elevation are above tree line.

Public ground dominates this district, but much of it must be accessed by foot or horseback. Forest Service ground dominates within this district with blocks of state, BLM and Nature Conservancy at lower elevations providing additional public access.

A good portion of the district is timbered with firs and spruce in the higher elevations. Mountain parks or meadows are found throughout the higher elevations giving hunters the ability to spot game, but accessing can be difficult.

Lincoln offers numerous lodging options and amenities and will make the traveling hunter feel right at home. Camping is available on Forest Service ground with some restrictions on stay length. The Forest Service operates a few improved sites, including Pine and Aspen Grove and a few private campgrounds are available in Lincoln as well.
