This district has higher than objective elk numbers and while decent bulls are taken every year, usually more elk come from the district to the west. With only a few main access roads, this district will take some effort to get away from roads where most of the game will be found.

This district produces elk, mule deer and whitetail, but is not considered a trophy district. There is plenty of ground to cover, but you will have to put in some effort to get at it.

The ground for the most part is mountainous and mainly timbered. Lower down on the east and south there is private ground where foothills give way to pasture and cattle country. Most of this districts sits below 6,500 feet, meaning the majority of the public land is timbered. Some marshy ground exists in the creek bottom mainly along Highway 200.

This district is about half and half in terms of access with some being public ground and other areas that are privately held, but open to public access. Private land is present and can cause some access issues. Much of the public land is accessible only via trail or gated roads.

The public ground is this district in nearly all timbered, other than the privately held logging country to the north where recent cuts have taken place and allow some visibility. Some pasture grasses can be encountered and some higher meadows can be located which the elk will frequent.

Lincoln offers all amenities. Some camping is available along the Blackfoot River. Make sure to check on Block Management Regulations covering camping on timber company lands. Camping is available on Forest Service ground with some restrictions on stay length. There are a couple improved campgrounds and a Forest Service cabin available to rent as well.
