This area can be found in the northeast part of the state and lies just southwest of Gillette. It is bordered on the north by Interstate 90, the east by Highway 59, the south by Highway 387, and the west by the Powder River. This unit is comprised of high plains desert and has a mix of private land with some BLM and state land. Public lands are limited and hunting pressure in these areas tends to be high. The best odds for success, and the best bucks, will generally be found on private lands.

Most of the public land in this unit is concentrated in the northwest corner of the unit which can really focus hunting pressure. Private lands will generally be the best bet for success.

There are different types of grassy and desert-like open prairies with big basins, creek bottoms and rolling hills that are good for putting on a stalk. There are a lot of creek drainages and the Powder River drainages to stalk in. There are also private ranches and farmlands here that can bring in antelope from surrounding prairies.

There are scattered state sections throughout the unit that can be accessed by county roads, but the majority of public land is in the northwest corner of the unit. Utilize Schoonover Rd, Napier Rd, and Iberlin Rd for the majority of access to public land. If you are able to find any pieces of public land that don't have roads, chances are walking to them will be worth your time. Overall, roads in the unit are well maintained. There are some smaller two-track roads, but the majority are well used, partly due to the gas and oil fields in the area.

Open land and high desert prairie with sagebrush and grasslands can be found here. Rocky bluffs, sagebrush, cedars and small trees are usually found in the higher elevations.

Gillette is the closest town and has a lot of lodging options. Groceries, gas, and other amenities can be found here as well. Camping is allowed on all public ground for up to 16 days in one location. Hunters can also camp in remote locations.
