At a Glance
This area can be found in the northeast part of the state and lies just southwest of Gillette. It is bordered on the north by Interstate 90, the east by Highway 59, the south by Highway 387, and the west by the Powder River. This unit is comprised of high plains desert and has a mix of private land with some BLM and state land. Public lands are limited and hunting pressure in these areas tends to be high. The best odds for success, and the best bucks, will generally be found on private lands.
Most of the public land in this unit is concentrated in the northwest corner of the unit which can really focus hunting pressure. Private lands will generally be the best bet for success.
