This area can be found in the east-central part of the state, northeast of Casper. Comprised of high plains desert, this area is dominated by private land with a tracts of BLM land, state lands and the Thunder Basin National Grassland. A few scattered opportunities can be found on public lands but generally the highest success rates and biggest bucks will be found on private lands.

There is relatively low access to public land in this area. Using an outfitter or seeking permission to access private lands can increase your odds of taking a trophy buck. This terrain is good for putting on stalks.

There are different types of grassy and desert-like open prairie with big basins, creek bottoms and rolling hills that give hunters the opportunity for good stalks. There are also private ranch and farm lands near the North Platte that can bring in antelope from the surrounding prairies. Most hunters will find little trouble in physically accessing most areas in this unit.

Public access in this unit is fairly good. Dominated by private land, there are some Walk-In Access areas, but they are relatively small. There are several well-maintained roads and smaller two-track roads. The gas and oil drilling activity that goes on here gives access to roads in places throughout the area. This hunt area is bordered by Pine Ridge, Sand Creek and County Road 23 on the south, Wyoming Highway 387 on the north, Wyoming Highway 59 on the east, and the North Platte River to the south.

Open land and high desert prairie with sagebrush and grasslands can be found here. Cedars and pines can be found at higher elevations near the Pine Ridge.

Casper is the closest town, and has a lot of lodging options. Grocery stores, gas stations and other amenities can be found here as well. Camping is allowed on all public ground for up to 16 days in one location. Hunters can also camp in remote locations here.
