This area is found in southeastern Wyoming and just north of the small town of Medicine Bow. Good numbers of antelope are found here along with a great distribution of public lands. There is a lot of ground to cover in this unit and hunters should be prepared to travel when targeting mature bucks.
Medicine Bow is on the outskirts of this unit. Decent horn growth can be seen from the antelope here, along with a growing population. Odds of finding a bigger buck are more likely with private land access.
There is a lot of open prairie, rolling hills and high desert sagebrush plains here. The higher timberline forest elevation of this area can lead to antelope roaming higher into the mountainous terrain, but are usually not found there.
Access to public land in this area is good for antelope hunting. Hunters should get permission to hunt private land in advance. Stalking on foot is the typical hunting tactic in this area after finding your buck.
This unit is made up of sagebrush and grass in open land of the lower elevation of prairies. Some areas that are higher in elevation also have junipers, service berries, pine forests and aspen, where antelope are not typically found.
Modern Lodging options can be found in Medicine Bow but many hunters will opt to camp on public lands throughout the unit. Some gear and grocery needs can be met in Medicine Bow but it may be important to prepack everything before the trip.
