Area 97 is located in the central part of the state, north of Riverton. The area is comprised of high plains desert and includes a mix of private land and good amounts of BLM land.

This hunt area is combined with Area 117 and has fair general access available and a high success rate for harvest. Flat terrain can make for a challenging stalk throughout the unit. Most antelope are found on private land or in the Wind River Indian Reservation.

This unit is relatively flat and has multiple private crop fields. The area is made up of grassy or desert-like, open prairie.

Public access in this unit is good and contains several highways, county roads, BLM roads and smaller two-track roads. Some roads found within the unit are rough. Be sure to utilize your GOHUNT maps for land ownership and property boundaries.

The terrain in this area is open and consists of high desert prairie typically located among sagebrush or grasslands. Antelope are drawn to crop fields within this area.

Riverton is the closest town to the unit and offers many options for lodging, groceries, gas and other amenities. Camping is allowed on all public ground for up to 16 days in one location. Hunters can also camp in remote locations throughout the unit.
