This unit is north of Lusk and west of the South Dakota State line. Some sections of BLM land, state and private ranches can make public access hard in this area. Mule deer and whitetail are commonly found here. For nonresidents, this area is part of Region B and tags drawn for this area are also valid in: 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 21.
Ridges and creeks give hunters a lot of opportunity to take mature mule deer and whitetail here. Access to private land could increase the opportunity to harvest a bigger buck. Make sure you know landowner status of any sections you plan to hunt.
Seaman Hills, Table Mountain, Shepard Point, Bald Butte, Buck Creek Hills, Swede Draw, Old Women Creek Hills and Lance Creek can all be found here. A lot of these creeks cut through huge areas of grasslands.
It can be hard to access public land because of the complex ownership of federal, state and private land. The state walk-in area can be found off of County Road 14 along Lance Creek and has 1,800 acres. Plan to get in touch with landowners to get trespass permission.
Old Women Creek and Buck Creek Hills have stands of ponderosa pine and the creek bottoms consist of cottonwoods and grass. Short grass prairies are made up of buffalo and blue grama along with sagebrush.
No improved or developed campgrounds can be found here. Lusk has RV campgrounds, motels, cafes, restaurants, medical facilities and gas stations.
