Area 34 in Wyoming, also known as Natrona, is located west and north of Casper. This area provides a truly desolate hunting opportunity for those looking to get off the beaten path.

This area has the potential to be an amazing hunt for the lucky tag holders who manage to draw. Both residents and non-residents face steep draw odds here.

This area has a wide variety of landscapes spread across it. Rolling hills meet steep and jagged sandstone canyons and creek bottoms. This is classic lowland mule deer country at its finest. This region is dry, water is usually at a premium and will be used by all of the local wildlife. Big and open will define the majority of the area, with the northern and western edges providing steeper and larger hills.

Access in this area is fairly good. While there is a moderate amount of private land, there is also a high percentage of public ground. There are numerous highways, roads, and access points that will get them into good hunting country. The use of a GPS with up to date mapping is strongly recommended in this area, along with the use of BLM land maps. Aside from maintained highway and county roads, hunters should not expect roads to be well maintained and should plan for rugged off road driving and changing conditions. A four wheel drive vehicle equipped with chains is recommended.

Sagebrush, bunchgrass, cactus, pinion pines, juniper and cottonwood trees will make up the majority of vegetation for this area. With limited water sources, there will be very few locations holding more than a handful of trees grouped together with the exception of the pinyon and juniper covered hillsides.

There are plenty of options for lodging, food and fuel available for area 34. Casper will hold the largest number of options. Businesses here are typically very hunter friendly and typically cater happily to their needs. Camping is allowed on BLM lands.
