Unit 40 is located south of Ten Sleep. A small portion of Bighorn National Forest is included in this unit, as well as BLM and state land. Mule deer and whitetails are both found in the unit. Public land access can be tough.For nonresidents, this area is part of Region M and tags drawn for this area are also valid in: 35, 39, 164.
Mule deer can be found throughout the entire unit, and whitetail are mostly found in lower elevations. Whitetail bucks can be found in the Norwood River bottoms and drainages that come from the eastern foothills to the river.
