Area 44 is located in southwestern Wyoming, south of Interstate 80. This area has had a small increase in its moose populations in recent years. The terrain here allows hunters to glass a lot of area from high ridge points but the broken terrain can hide moose with relative ease.
A smaller density of moose will be found here but the open nature of the unit can still offer hunters good options at locating bulls.
Quick Tips
- Be prepared to glass long distances in varying terrain
- A GPS with land status map is recommended
- Fishing for smallmouth bass and rainbow trout can be good year round on the Flaming Gorge Reservoir
- Snow chains, a shovel and four-wheel drive are helpful during the rifle season
