Big Horn Outfitters is a professionally managed, family business that provides some of the best big game hunting experiences in the state of Wyoming. Our main lodge is located in Buffalo, WY, basically centered in the areas we hunt. Great pride is taken in meals we serve and the lodging we provide, all of which is included with every hunt. We offer trophy hunts for elk, Shiras moose, mule deer, white-tailed deer and pronghorn antelope.   In the spring, our Merriam turkey hunts are second-to-none. We also take great pride in the fact that more than 70 percent of our services are provided to return clients. Our camps and lodge are family friendly, as we truly enjoy having women and kids in camp.

At Big Horn Outfitters, we work extremely hard to manage our ground in an effort to maintain the quality and number of animals on these properties. This means we spend a great deal of time looking for mature animals, limit the number of bucks or bulls taken, and we harvest does as necessary. During the season, we apply minimal pressure to these animals to make sure the last hunt is just as successful and enjoyable as the first. A great deal of time is given to scouting and running trail cameras during the summer months and throughout the season to give you the very best opportunity of harvesting your animal.

We offer archery and rifle hunts for every species. All of our guides are experienced bow hunters and understand techniques and strategies necessary to be successful with archery equipment.

Whether you are looking for a high country elk hunt out of a wall tent camp, or a relaxing, game rich hunt in the foothills, we can accommodate your needs. We are fortunate to have easy to draw tags for all species, combined with excellent trophy quality. For the hunter that has built up preference points, our mountain elk and private land elk hunts are some of the best in state of Wyoming. Our success rate for rifle hunters in 2015 was 100 percent for all species and 100 percent opportunity for all archery hunts.

Available Hunts

2020 - archery antelope:

Antelope hunts are extremely exciting offering exceptionally high success rates. You can expect to see lots of animals each day. We achieved a 100% success rate for rifle hunters in 2013 and 90% for archery hunters. In 2012, we received the award for the largest antelope taken with an outfitter, the buck’s net score was 84 3/8. These tags are available over the counter and each hunter can harvest two bucks if tags are available during your hunt. Archery hunts are a combination of sitting over waterholes in ground blinds and spot and stalk style hunts. We offer pronghorn antelope hunts in areas 15, 16, 20, 22 and 102. Archery season begins on August 15

2020 - archery whitetail:

All of our whitetail deer hunting takes place on private ranches. Our areas offer a generous season length for archery hunters. Archery hunts will take place from tree stands or ground blinds. Our whitetail season runs through the rut for archery. We strive to manage our whitetails to offer opportunities at quality animals. Average deer taken on this september hunt are between 120-140"
