Most of this unit is open only to bowhunters and surrounds Flagstaff. No hunting is allowed within a quarter mile of occupied buildings in Flagstaff city limits. Hunting is good for high-quality bull elk. Antelope hunting is challenging. Mule deer hunting is average, but there are some trophy-size bucks.

Quality bull elk live in and around rural neighborhoods in Flagstaff. Mule deer and antelope are also in this unit. There is no rifle hunting and only two archery elk hunts during the rut. Antelope hunting is challenging, but there are some big bucks.

Extreme elevation variation within this small unit. Some steep timbered country in the higher elevations with flats and rough canyon country in the lower reaches.

Good access on the Coconino National Forest and most of the state property. Subdivisions next to Flagstaff contain private property and city property also is closed to hunting. Carry a GPS unit with a memory card that shows land ownership.

Ponderosa pine and spruce timber in the higher elevations. Juniper and oak across the middle and lower elevations. Some open grasslands in the lower elevations.

Numerous hotels in Flagstaff provide lodging. Most hunters camp on U.S. Forest Service property in the unit.
