At a Glance
This unit is south of units 45A and 45B. All three comprise Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, which is open to hunting but subject to regulations about firearms in vehicles. Mature sheep and deer are sparse in this unit.
Once a high number of desert sheep and a healthy mule deer herd lived in Unit 45A, but numbers have dropped significantly, most likely due to drought and predation. Trophy quality also has declined. Sheep hunting is restricted to residents at this time as only one tag is offered due to low numbers of mature rams.
Quick Tips
- Typical climate is hot in autumn and warm in winter
- Carry plenty of water
- Drive a four-wheel-drive vehicle with high clearance
