This small unit is located in central Colorado and lies just south of the town of Frisco. There is not a large population of sheep here but the habitat is somewhat limited and sheep are not generally difficult to locate. two large ski resorts are present in both the northern and southern ends of the units which will bring in some recreational hikers and mountain bikers although this will generally not impact the sheep herds. Hunters will find little trouble in locating access into most areas but physical conditioning can make or break the hunt.

This area can see heavy recreational traffic although this will generally not affect the sheep herds, much.

With the exception of a few low lying areas on the eastern side of the unit, most of the area will be comprised of large and steep ridge systems with many finger canyons sprawling from these. The creek bottoms and mid-elevation areas are generally heavily timbered with most of the high elevation areas being largely dominated by fields of native grasses and scree slopes.

This area is well covered in trails and roads making for great access options for most hunters. Still, physically accessing some of the high country areas can be very physically demanding. Trails may be crowded during the earlier parts of the season and hunters may need to take this into account.

Cottonwoods and willows line the banks all along the Arkansas. Irrigated hay fields and alfalfa can be found here surrounded by areas of pinyon/juniper, sagebrush and oak brush. Pinyon/juniper join ponderosa pine, stands of aspen, mountain mahogany and grassy meadows on foothills. Spruce, fir, aspen and pine cover the upper slopes. Closer to the timberline bristlecone pines give way to acres of wildflowers, moss, lichens and barren ground willows above 11,000 feet.

There are some lodging options located around the ski resorts within the unit but most hunters will generally opt to backpack hunt or truck camp for sheep. There are very few outlets for gear or groceries within the unit and these needs will need to be met prior to the hunt beginning.
