The Weiser River elk zone is found in west-central Idaho and along the Oregon state line. A decent population of elk can be found here although bulls tend to be of a younger age class. Hunters will find a wide array of terrain types to pursue elk in here from high desert prairies to rugged mountains.
The majority of this area is rolling high desert and farmlands with some deep cut coulees. The eastern and northern edges of the zone feature a more mountainous terrain with heavily timbered slopes and good public access. Most of these areas and heavily laden in logging roads so escaping pressure can be tough at times.
For the most part, access to public lands in great throughout this zone. Country roads cover much of the more open country while logging roads are scattered throughout the mountainous regions. Escaping other hunters can be difficult at times due to the ease of access but there are some more remote and steep areas that can be hiked into.
