This small unit is located in the northeastern portion of Kansas and is centered around the huge Fort Riley Military Reservation. Tags for elk in Kansas are only available to residents, military personnel, and landowners. Hunting in this area is largely centered around private lands and hunters will need to keep this in mind when applying.

While western states still offer more opportunities the elk population of Kansas is growing and becoming more self-sustaining every day.
