This district is located in central Montana, just south and east of Great Falls. The district is large and includes a lot of the Little Belt Mountains, but the antelope are really only located in the lower elevations from the foothills out into the prairies. The antelope are found mostly on private land and access can be difficult and will require spending some time to acquire permission.
Antelope populations are down from historic levels. Antelope are scattered all along the eastern half of the district. There are additional doe, fawn antelope tags that can be applied for.
Quick Tips
- A majority of the antelope can be glassed from the highway
- Maps displaying land ownership are highly recommended
- There is good fishing in the district in the river and streams as well as Ackley Lake
