This district is located directly north of Helena, west of the Missouri River and east of Highway 279. This area is comprised mainly of private land, most of which is available to hunters through Montana’s Block Management Program. This area has some urban development that is affecting habitat. Elk mostly use this area as a winter range while deer and antelope can be found here year round throughout the district.
This area is a great example of how Block Management can be a great tool to provide great hunting opportunities to the public on private land. Much of the area around Baldy Mountain is prime habitat and open to hunting through the Block Management Program. This area receives a ton of pressure from local hunters based in Helena.
