The Fleecer unit consists of portions of Silver Bow and Deer Lodge Counties southwest of Butte. Beaverhead Deerlodge National Forest, Mount Haggin, and Fleecer Mountain Wildlife Management Area plus sections of BLM lands offer thousands of acres of public land access. Big Hole River creates the southern Boundary along Montana Route 43. Residents must apply for an antlered bull limited license.
Mount Haggin near American, First Chance, and Moose Creeks might be a good area to begin your hunt in late September between 7,500 and 8,000 feet. Consider heading towards Fleecer Ridge and Fleecer Peak during mid-October through November looking for bulls near Jerry, Crazy Swede and Parker Creeks. If the snow depth is high spend time glassing on BLM lands along the lower sections of Jerry Creek.
