Helena-North is located in Lewis and Clark County near the Montana capital of Helena. A portion of the unit is within the 146 square mile Prickly Pear Weapons Restriction Area. Robert E lee Range sits with Helena National Forest and a combination of large sections of BLM lands near Marysville offer public access. Be aware a large portion of known moose areas are on private land. Only residents may apply for a limited antlered bull tag.
National Forest allows access to the Continental Divide while BLM Lands open up some lower elevations that may hold bulls later in the season. There is a lot of private land along the lower reaches of Little Prickly Creek so get access permission well in advance of the season. A mature bull may range between 120’ to the high 130” Boone and Crockett. Any bull scoring higher than 140” would be an exceptional trophy.
