This elk unit sits just off the northern tip of Colorado, with Interstate 80 running right through the middle. Public lands are extremely limited, with only a few accessible Open Fields and Waters properties. Permission to hunt private ground will serve you well and it's highly recommended to seek an outfitter for a successful hunt. Some incredible bulls have been killed in this unit and those lucky enough to secure access to huntable ground can be for a hunt of a lifetime.
There's a healthy population of elk that inhabit this unit, but will mostly be concentrated on private land. Passed harvest data has shown the majority of animals taken southeast of Ogallala. It's highly recommended to hire an outfitter to really get the most out of this coveted tag.
