Much of this large unit burned in 2006 and is now covered with a variety of grasses and forbs, providing great feed for elk, mule deer and antelope. Some aspen stands remain and are recovering from the fire. Elko is at the southern tip, while the northern boundary is about 50 miles north.
Hunters who like glassing and stalking enjoy this part of the state because terrain is wide open.
