As with most of the surrounding units, unit 2G1 is made up primarily of cultivated cropland. This provides an ample food supply for the whitetail population. Public-land offerings in this unit are significant, especially relative to some surrounding units. If public land and having a lot of room to roam is what you are looking for, 2G1 is a great area for you to put in some work.

The west side of the unit along the James River has high-quality habitat, but you will have to do some work prior to your season to figure out which private lands allow hunting.
