Located in the center of the state spanning north and south across Interstate 90. This unit is almost entirely private ground with just a couple very small pieces of walk-in access and even less state land. Overall this unit has good antelope habitat.
With very limited public access there are few hunters headed to this unit without a plan around hunting some private property.
The most notable terrain feature in the unit is the White River that makes up the entire southern boundary of this unit. There are small creeks scattered across the unit with more areas that are swamp than prairie. You will also find raw prairie as well as a considerable amount of agriculture throughout the unit.
There is a mix of short and tall prairie grass throughout the unit as well as countless species of wildflowers in most areas outside of the agricultural fields. Very sparse timber which is primarily a mix of Cottonwood, American Elm, Green Ash, and Bur Oak can be found along the riparian zone of the White River as well as other small creek beds scattered across the unit.
Interstate 90 moves across this unit going east and west and is paralleled by highway 248. Highway 183 moves north and south in the south central part of the unit. You can find highway 53 on the far west and highway 273 in the northeast. Each of these highways allow access to different county roads that will allow you to travel to most corners of the unit.
Camping in this unit will be next to impossible as there is little to no access to public land and camping is not allowed on the walk-in ground. If you are planning a hunt and need somewhere to state the most notable town in the unit is Presho, SD. The town has gas, groceries, and some locally owned hotels. You can also find most of what you would need in Kennebec, SD which is also just off of Interstate 90 a little closer to the eastern side of the unit.
