Located in the north central part of the state, bordered on the west by the Missouri River/Lake Oahe, this unit is primarily private land. There are large pockets of walk-in land mostly located in the center of the unit surrounding Akaska and to the east around both Swan Lake and Horseshoe Lake. Other smaller walk-in areas are spread along the border of the unit to the north. Access to each section may or may not be available. Check with local agencies for access descriptions. Public land exists along the border of the lakes, serving fishing and waterfowl hunting. Limited big game hunting opportunities in these areas.
