The unit is found on the southern end of the Black Hills range in South Dakota. Good elk numbers are found here and hunters lucky enough to hold a tag will be in for a great hunt. This unit does not have as much public land as some of the other Black Hills units but it does have some huge walk-in areas to offset this. This unit does have a little more break in the tree cover as compared to some other units and spot and stalk methods can work excellent here.

Good numbers of elk can be found in this unit along with a good amount of public lands to chase them on. While this unit has a slightly lower public land distribution than some other units it does offer some massive walk-in areas to offset this.
