With good hunt dates and the ability to hunt deer later in the year, this can be a fun archery hunt. Originally started as a way to control deer in residential areas, this unit gives hunters the chance to take some great bucks. One or two 190” plus B&C bucks are harvested every year on this hunt.
Located in northern Utah just outside the city of Ogden, the unit takes up the valley floor, which is mainly covered by houses and foothills up into the mountain ridges. The ridges are steep and typically lead to a drainage with a creek.
With much of the mountainous terrain in the Wasatch National Forest, there is good public access. Much of the travel is on foot leaving from main roads or well-maintained roads. With the valley having residential areas, some starting access points can be difficult.
In the valley floors there are some agricultural fields near the west side of the unit. As the valley leads to the foothills, oak brush, sagebrush and some conifers can be found. Conifers continue up through the higher elevations with some scattered aspen trees.
With much of the unit being on the outskirts of some of the larger cities in Utah, there are plenty of places to stay in hotels. There are some campgrounds within the unit boundaries.
