This area can be found on the south border of the state, southwest of Laramie. Mainly made up of high plains desert, a few mountains and some riparian river bottoms, this area contains some BLM and state land. It is bordered by U.S. Highway 287 on the east, the Colorado state line on the south and Wyoming Highway 230 to the west and north. Public lands are limited enough that hunters can struggle to find success at times but hard work can lead to a punched tag.
This hunt area has decent general access to public land, and high success rates. Hunters can sometimes have a better chance of success hiring a guide to access private land. Land near the Laramie River has the most antelope. Monolith Ranch and Spiegelberg Habitat Management Areas could have more access.
Most of this area is a typical prairie expanse with rolling fields of grass and sage cut by scattered creek beds and the Laramie River to the north. Antelope are scattered throughout the unit but the northern half near the Laramie Rivers tends to hold the highest concentrations.
Public access in this unit is good, with several county roads and some smaller two tracks. A lot of roads here are well maintained, with a few passable only with four-wheel drive or ATVs.
Open land of high desert prairie with sagebrush and grassland can be found here. Rocky bluffs, sagebrush and cedars can be found in the high elevations to the south and west.
Laramie is the closest town to the unit, and has a lot of lodging options. Grocery stores, gas stations and other amenities can be found here as well. Camping is allowed on all public ground for up to 16 days in one location. Hunters can also camp in remote locations.
