This unit is south and west of Sundance with parts of Thunder Basin National Grasslands, Black Hills National Forest and BLM land mixed with a lot of private land. Mule deer and whitetails are commonly found here.For nonresidents, this area is part of Region A and tags drawn for this area are also valid in: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6.
Public land access is typically landlocked behind private ranch gates. This unit has more whitetails than mule deer. Animals can be found near ponderosa pines, along creeks bottoms and close to crops. With mule deer bucks usually in the shorter grass, sagebrush and rugged drainages on prairies.
