Hunters interested in Wyoming's Area 84 for 2023 are weighing its value, particularly in relation to burning accumulated preference points. While recent insights are limited, past experiences suggest that while Unit 84 can offer quality mule deer, it may not be worth a lengthy wait, particularly when other units like 82 could provide similar opportunities more frequently. The general consensus appears to lean towards leveraging points in more predictable or better-populated areas unless specific conditions or opportunities in 84 make it a standout choice. Hunters should consider their urgency in filling tags against the potential quality of game they might encounter.
Unit 84 consists of large ranch lands with BLM lands and State of Wyoming controlled lands with Wyoming Game and Fish Red Rim-Daley Wildlife Habitat Management Access Area.
A high number of mule deer can be found in this area. Hunters should be aware of public access and private property boundaries in the checkerboard pattern throughout the area. The Red Rim-Daley WHMA is a great place to find mule deer during hunting season.
