This unit is made up of high plains desert and the Medicine Bow Mountain Range in the south-central part of the state. A good distribution of public lands is found here and elk populations are stable. The southeast corner of the unit is heavily timbered and mountainious while the remainder of the unit is open and broken. Optics and physical preparation will be important for this hunt.
This is a large area with moderate/rugged terrain and lots of country to hunt. Elk are located mainly on the National Forest lands in the southwest but can be found scattered throughout the unit.
