This unit is located in the western portion of the state and just outside of the town of Jackson. The mountains in this unit are on the southern slope of the Teton Mountain range. Unless like most of the other areas in the state, this unit does not have any designated wilderness areas that nonresident hunters will need to watch out for.
A smaller density of wolves will be found here and packs can be notoriously difficult to locate. Nonresident hunters will want to pay close attention to wilderness boundaries.
This unit is located west of Jackson on the southern slopes of the Teton Mountain Range. These are some of the most beautiful and rugged mountains Wyoming has to offer. As soon as you leave the valley you immediately start gaining elevation, and you gain it quickly. The eastern two-thirds of the unit consists of the Snake and Gros Ventre River valleys while the western edge is highly mountainous and rugged.
The mountains in this unit are your typical timber covered ridges with open meadows scattered throughout. Once above timberline, you are going to find what you would typically think of in an alpine environment, big basins with bald rocky mountain peaks. Like all mountains in Wyoming, you will find lodgepole pines, white pines, juniper, and aspen trees throughout the range.
Most of the mountainous areas within the unit are public land although some of the foothills areas will see parcels of private. Most of the river bottom area is private with the exception of a few pieces of BLM and State owned lands. Phillips Bench Road will provide the best access to the section just west of Jackson. Be careful as you travel further northeast in this unit because you will run into Teton Village ski resort.
Hunters will find all of their needs met in the town of Jackson which is located in the southeast corner of the unit. Here, hunters will find groceries, lodging, and supplies. A few other shops can be found throughout the unit with a few limited supplies.
