Camouflage might be the first essential when you think of hunting clothing, but even more important is hunter orange. Also known as blaze orange, it is ALWAYS required when hunting medium- to large-size game animals. A color not present in the natural world, fluorescent orange is an excellent safety measure, clearly visible in both bright sunlight and poor lighting conditions.

When hunting big game or upland birds (e.g., partridge, quail) make sure you have blaze orange coverage on your front, back, both sides and head when you are in the field. Turkeys and waterfowl have great eyesight and the smallest movement can spook them. Use a camouflage that blends with the habitat where you are hunting as well as a face mask to cover any bare skin. Remember to wear hunter orange when entering and leaving your location.
