This large unit, which is mostly private land, is equally divided between urban sprawl in the north, farmland mixed with single-family residential properties in the southeast, and McCord Air Force Base in the southwestern corner. With that being said, the GMU produces decent hunting opportunities and success rates.

Gaining access to prime private ground is getting harder.

There is a thin patchwork of timber left standing from years of permanent timber cutting to make room for farming and other human based land uses. The northern portion is mostly urban sprawl. The remainder of the unit that is not Air Force Base, has small privately-owned pieces of land in all shapes and sizes, most of which are personal use properties, from summer homes, horse properties and hobby farms.

Access is mostly on private property in this unit, so be sure to gain permission to access the private land you are interested in well before your hunt begins.

This unit has patchy timber and farmlands consisting of hay, vegetables, grains and berries. Due to a large influx of residents, there is a significant amount of non-native decorative trees, shrubs and flowers, some of which are growing feral.

There are very limited camping spots in the unit, however, there are an endless amount of hotel and motel options.
