Washington offers great opportunities for those looking to hunt bears. Baiting and the use of hounds are prohibited, but Washington offers plenty of terrain types for spot and stalk style hunting. Fall hunting seasons are available with over the counter general tags, but all hunting during the spring is done so with special permit tags. Overall, Washington has produced a fair amount of bears that made their entry into the B&C record books and hunters can expect a great hunt.
Hunters who are unsuccessful in drawing a special permit will be granted a free bonus point
Applicants must front the application fee and the cost of a bear tag when applying
Applicants can apply as a party and are limited to 2 members
Over-the-counter tags are available for all fall seasons
Residents and nonresidents are drawn from the same pool and both have the same odds of drawing
The spring hunts are reserved for special permits, but OTC tags are available for all fall hunts
Bonus points are squared as a way to reward long-time applicants
