Coyle is an interesting unit located along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, wrapping around the Puget Sound. With this unit being mostly coastal and its highest point at a mere 800-ft, the elk are limited to small land parcels which are typically pastures. Small fragmented pieces of public are scattered throughout the unit and do not hold any resident big game, only the game that cruises through from time to time. Port Angeles is located in the very northwestern portion.
Tribal hunting does occur, so actual hunting pressure may be greater the WDFW hunting statistics might suggest. It can be hard to find elk in this unit.
